Samvel Baloyan, deputy director of EPIU and Gor Saribekyan, lawyer accompanied him. Armen Martirosyan, Sustainable Growth and Resilience Portfolio Manager at UNDP Armenia also took part in the meetings.
The Council discussed implemented activities for 2016-2017 and status of projects envisaged by GEF-6. Statements were made by the executive secretaries of UNCCD, UNCBD and other conventions mentioning the outcomes of cooperation and next steps with GEF.
On the initiative of the Armenian delegation meeting took place with Mr. Ulrich Apel, Sr. Environmental Specialist from GEF Secretariat-Programs Unit division discussing GEF-6 replenishment progress in Armenia.
On May 26th another meeting was organized with UNFCCC Adaptation Fund specialists.
It is known that “Environmental project implementation unit” SA of the Ministry of Nature Protection on November 4, 2016 was accredited in AF as National Implementing Entity. Currently EPIU submitted two project proposals which are in discussion now. The proposed concepts and further steps were discussed during the meeting.
