The Adaptation Fund has approved a “Artik city closed stone pit waste and flood management” Pilot Project

In October 2018, the Adaptation Fund Board under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change approved “Artik city closed stone pit wastes and flood management pilot project” developed by the ”Environmental Project Implementation Unit ” State Institution of the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia costing 1,435,100 USD. It is worth motioning that the ”Environmental Project Implementation Unit” State Institution of the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia gaining accreditation with the Adaptation Fund as National Implementing Entity (NIE) for 5 years on November 4, 2016 by the Fund Board decision B.28-29.1. Armenia is the only country accredited to this Fund in the Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the Commonwealth of Independent States. The approval of this pilot project by the Adaptation Fund Board is significant in the sense that it is the second project financed in Eastern Europe, while the first one in the region.
